Forum — Financing Solar Energy on Brownfields
Renewable energy on contaminated lands, landfills and mine sites is not only a good idea, but is happening with over 150 projects installed nationwide. While the characteristics of such lands as well as the legal and policy context needs to be considered, stakeholders have found ways to make such projects economically attractive for investors and beneficial to the communities in which they reside. The session will provide an overview of such projects and focus on a few specific approaches including community shared solar. Forum participants will emerge with greater knowledge of the tools and strategies used to pursue such projects.
