Peter Olmsted is East Coast Regional Director for the Vote Solar Initiative. For the past 10 years, Peter has dedicated himself to working in the public and non-profit sectors to address some of the country’s most pressing environmental and energy issues. At Vote Solar, Peter is responsible for driving solar markets on the East Coast through removing barriers and implementing key policies that will bring solar to scale and into the mainstream. In addition to his employment at Vote Solar, Peter is President of the New York Solar Energy Industries Association, the only solar industry advocacy group and trade association dedicated solely to advancing the solar energy industry in New York State. Peter also serves on the Alliance for Clean Energy New York (ACENY) and mid-Atlantic, DC, Virginia Solar Energy Industries Association (MDV-SEIA) Boards.
Prior to Vote Solar, Peter was previously energy policy staff for the Delaware Senate Energy & Transit Committee where he helped to shape the state’s renewable energy targets and solar market foundations. Peter has a Masters of Energy and Environmental Policy from the University of Delaware and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Skidmore College.
